My name is Yeweinshet Bezu and I am the Founder and Director of Finote Rehabilitation for Women with Dissabilities Association.  I lost my sight partially when I was only 5 years old due to the physical abuse I endured from my family's house keeper.  At age 7 I contracted small pox, which lead to the complete visual impairment of both my eyes. Growing up with my disability taught me that there are so little opportunities for people like me.  I felt the desire to make a change for  myself and for others.
I spent about 2 years in South Africa where I learned of their thriving community for women with dissabilities.  I saw that they had a lot more privillages and opportunites than we had in Ethiopia at that time.  I then became a board member at the Ethiopian Federation of People with Dissabilities Association and soon after, Chair Person for the Women's Wing at the Ethiopian National Association of the Blind.  In 2007 I founded Finote Rehabilitation for Women with Dissabilities Association.
I have a vision for the women of Finote- I want them to stand on their own two feet and to value their lives as productive citizens of this country.
